Fantasy Baseball Daily- June 12, 2014

We don’t have a full slate of games on this Thursday but only eight teams have off so there are still plenty of players to chose from for our lineup tonight.  Fortunately for us there are some very good value players for us to chose from so we can throw in a few of the cap eating players and really give ourselves a potent lineup.

We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel .com and if you haven’t signed up  yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit. This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash. The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible).

The scoring system for FanDuel    is as follows:

Batters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win  = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt

My Value Plays

Pitcher
Kyle Lohse, Brewers, $7,000:
Really the only bad start for Lohse this season came his last time out when he allowed eight runs against the Pirates which raised his ERA from 2.60 to 3.27.  Still Lohse is working with a very good ERA and WHIP and carries that into his next start tonight against the anemic offense that is the Mets who are only batting .237 as a team.  Lohse should rebound nicely in his start tonight as he looks to get his eighth win of the year.

Catcher
Devin Mesoraco, Reds, $3,000:
What doesn’t this guy do?  He is batting over .300 still and has nine homeruns and 27 RBI in what has been an overall disappointing Reds offense.  Generally a start against Zack Greinke is not a recipe for success but he has not been himself his last three starts and if he fails to correct his control issues tonight that is going to lead to success for Mesoraco.

First Base
Mike Napoli, Red Sox, $3,000:
The power we have grown accustomed to seeing out of Napoli years past seems to have went away after a torrid start to the year.  He only has six homeruns, but does have one in his first game back off the disabled list four days ago.  He is 4-14 since coming back from a finger injury and is with the gamble at only $3,000 with his ability to go yard.

Second Base
Tommy La Stella, Braves, $3,000:
La Stella has been a huge upgrade at the second base position for the Braves since getting the call up to the majors.  He is batting .364 and has four RBI and two runs scored over his last four games played.  If he continues to hit like this it would seem reasonable for him to get a chance to take over the number two hole in the batting order from B.J. Upton who has struggled mightily as a Brave.

Third Base
Conor Gillaspie, White Sox, $2,900:
Gillaspie at 25 years old has finally found his groove at the plate after many struggles in the beginning of his career.  He is batting .353 with 19 runs scored and 21 RBI.  He won’t provide much in terms of power or speed but batting in the potent White Sox lineup is going to provide Gillaspie with more than his share of RBI chances and runs scored.

Short Stop
Starlin Castro, Cubs, $2,900:
Castro is having a quiet but very nice season for the Cubs.  He is only six homeruns away from tying his career high in homeruns which is 14, and has 32 RBI and 28 runs scored to go along with those homeruns.  He has scored four runs and driven in three in his last five games and should be able to improve upon those numbers tonight with Edinson Volquez on the mound.  Volquez has been better of late but still has a 4.27 ERA, and as history has shown with him is due for a clunker.

Outfield
Brett Gardner, Yankees, $3,100:
Gardner has been a hitting machine all season long for the Yankees and has only gone hitless in two of his last 12 games.  He Hasn’t stolen a base since June fourth a span of eight games but if Derek Jeter was able to steal two bags last night Gardner should have no issues stealing a bag against the Mariners when he gets on base.
