Fantasy Baseball Daily - June 29, 2014

We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel.com and if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit.  This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash.  The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible.)

The scoring system for FanDuel is as follows:

Hitters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt

Good Value Players

Pitcher

Edinson Volquez, Pirates, $5,700: Volquez won Monday against the Rays as he pitched eight innings and allowed one run, five hits and two walks to go along with one strikeout.  Volquez was hammered to the tune of eight runs in 2.1 innings in his last start, but he was able to follow that up with Monday's excellent performance. He has pitched well in the majority of his starts this season, but his ERA sits at 4.35 due to three starts where he allowed five runs or more. He could really increase his fantasy value if he can learn to limit the damage when he doesn't have his best stuff.

Catcher

Salvador Perez, Royals, $3,400: Perez played a big role in the Royals' win against the Dodgers Monday night, going 2-for-4 with his ninth home run of the season.  The Kansas City backstop has been red hot through the month of June, hitting safely in 19 of 21 games this month. Perez has his average up to .287 to go with his nine home runs.

First Base

Mike Napoli, Red Sox, $3,400: Napoli was credited with a steal of home in Sunday's win over the Athletics. He made a break for the plate and eluded the tag, after the A's got Jonathan Herrera in a rundown between first and second base.  Napoli later homered in the game to become the first Red Sox player in 47 years -- since Rico Petrocelli in September 1967 -- to homer and get credit for a steal of home in the same game.

Second Base

Dustin Pedroia, Red Sox, $3,300: Pedroia went 2-for-4 with just his fourth homer of the season in Thursday's loss to the A's.  Pedroia hit just nine homers last season but was playing with a torn UCL in his thumb for almost all of the season, so it was considered likely that some of his power would return this year. However, the opposite has been true. He does have 23 doubles, but his batting average has taken a tumble and he entered play Thursday slugging just .372 after slugging .415 last year.

Third Base

Matt Carpenter, Cardinals, $3,100: Carpenter went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two runs scored in Wednesday's loss to the Mets.  A Tuesday off day did Carpenter well, as he returned to collect two extra-base hits in his fifth multi-hit game of the month. The 28-year-old is now slashing .286/.375/.386 on the season, and his 46 runs scored ties him for fifth in the National League.

Shortstop

Brandon Crawford, Giants, $3,300: Crawford went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs, and an RBI batting out of the five-hole in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.  With a couple of the Giants' regulars ailing from injuries, Crawford was asked to move up in the lineup and he delivered Sunday. He continues to quietly put together a solid season as his .796 OPS ranks fourth among National League shortstops.

Outfield

Matt Holliday, Cardinals, $3,300: Holliday went 2-for-5 with a double an RBI and a run scored in his second game hitting out of the second spot of the lineup as the Cardinals shut out the Rockies Monday.  Holliday's power has gone missing this season as he's slugging just .386 through 75 games, a huge dropoff from his .524 career percentage. He is 34 and in his 11th season so it's not entirely surprising that his numbers are dropping, just that they have so dramatically.
