My Good Value Plays
Pitcher
Mike Leake, Reds, $7,100: Leake has built on his strong campaign from last season and has carried into this year. Not a strikeout pitcher but he does have a 2.92 ERA and a very good 1.06 WHIP. The Giants have relied on th elong ball all season long, and with Leake being a sinker ball pitcher he does a great job at keepin the ball in the ball park. Look for another typical Leake outing which is always good enough to start in daily's.
Catcher
Jason Castro, Astros, $3,100: This may seem like an odd pick with a lefty on the mound but Castro has actually hit lefties better than righties this year with a .271 clip against them. He hasn't been lighting the world on fire lately but he is still a solid catcher with minimal cost.
First Base
Joe Mauer, Twins, $3,600: Mauer has not been the palyer we are accustomed to seeing but he has at least scored a run in five of his last seven games and has a hit in ten of his last 13 games. The power is no longer there but the batting average is sure to jump up eventually. With Trevor Plouffe finally heating up at the plate and with Mauer setting the table so well he should have no problem scoring runs and possibly getting a cheap RBI if the speedster Brian Dozier gets in scoring position for Mauer.
Second Base
DJ LeMahieu, Rockies, $2,500: Not a powerful batter, LeMahieu is a hitter who makes consistent contact and gets on base enough to score a lot of runs in an extremely potent offense. The Rockies are at home tonight where their offense is particularly efficient. If LeMahieu gets on base he should have no problem scoring some runs, thus providing great value to your team.
Third Base
Matt Carpenter, Cardinals, $3,300: Carpenter is locked in at the plate right now. He is six for his last six and has nine multi hit games out of his last his last 13 games and only has one hitless game during that span. The young flamethrower Yordano Ventura has been shaky his last two times out and Carpenter is going to capitalize on any mistakes made with the way he is locked in right now.
Short Stop
Jed Lowrie, Athletics, $3,100: Lowrie has been a consistent contributor at the plate all season long. This is a risky play with Masahiro Tanaka on the mound for the Yankees but Lowire is feeling it at the plate right now. He has six runs one homerun and four RBI in his last five games. In that powerful A’s offense Lowrie has all kinds of opportunity’s to score runs and drive them in as well.
Outfield
Alex Gordon, Royals, $3,300: Gordon seems to be clicking at the plate right now after hitting his first homerun on Wednesday against the Rays. Gordon is locked in right now with homeruns in three of his last six games and hits in 12 of his last 13 games. Michael Wacha has been phenominal this year making this a slightly risky play but Gordon is red hot at the plate and has a chance to to provide some good value for your team at a low price.

Don't forget to check your lineup before each game to make sure that everyone in your lineup is starting. The last thing you want is a zero spot in your lineup costing yourself money.
