Fantasy Baseball Daily - May 1, 2014

With only eight games being played today we have a limited number players to choose from.  At leas the rain is expected to have subsided by today so we won’t have to worry about any more rainouts today and constantly fixing our lineups to accommodate the rain.

We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel  .com and if you haven’t signed up yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit. This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash  . The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible).

The scoring system for FanDuel is as follows:

Batters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt

Good Value Plays

Pitcher
Juan Nicasio, Rockies, $4,900:
Nicasio has been fairly bad over his last two starts having given up four runs to the Phillies followed up by surrendering five runs to the Dodgers.  Despite that he has a good matchup scheduled today against the Mets in Citi Field.  The Mets are a weak offense that rely on their right handed bats, which should help Nicasio as a right handed pitcher in negating their power.  On a day where there are not many starting pitching option to choose from Nicasio certainly is enticing given who is pitching against.

Catcher
Salvador Perez, Royals, $2,700:
Perez is showing life again after struggling mightily since the first week of the season.  Perez is seven for his last 13 with one homerun, two runs scored and four RBI.  It’s time to get him in your lineups while his bat remains hot.

First Base
Eric Hosmer, Royals, $3,200:
I may seem like a broken record at this point, constantly preaching that you need to get Hosmer into your daily lineups.  However he continues to produce, with a high batting average and his cap hit continues to be cost friendly.  Hosmer had another productive game last night with a pair of RBI, and as long as his cap hit remains around $3,200 I see no reason not to start him.

Second Base
DJ LeMahieu, Rockies, $2,600:
LeMahieu has really flown under the radar in 2014, as he continues to put together a strong campaign.  For someone you have not heard much talk about you would be surprised to hear that he is batting .305 with 10 runs scored and 14 RBI.  At under $3,000 you would be hard pressed to find a player who has been as productive as LeMahieu especially at a middle infield spot.

Third Base
Nolan Arenado, Rockies, $3,400:
While $3,400 is a borderline price when you talking in terms of value, however with such a small amount of games being played it seems like a small price to pay for the production he has had this year.  Pending the results of last nights game Arenado is in the middle of an 18 game hitting streak.  When a batter is this hot you would be a fool to not put him in your lineup if you are looking for a cheap option.

Short Stop
Jose Reyes, Blue Jays, $3,200:
Reyes has played alright since coming back from injury.  He has only gone hitless in three games the problem is most of the time he is only managing to get one hit.  With Jeremy Guthrie on the mound Reyes has a decent shot at getting just his third multi hit game of the season.

Outfield
Nick Markakis, Orioles, $3,100:
Markakis is having a nice bounce back season in 2014 for the Orioles.  He is batting .300 with 12 runs scored, eight RBI and two stolen bases which is more than he had all of last season.  With the injury to Chris Davis Markakis has been moved to the three hole which is going to open up a lot more RBI opportunities.  Despite the obvious lack of power with no homeruns, and only 36 total bases from his 30 hits, he still has good value with that high batting average while hitting in the middle of a strong offense that is also seeing the return of Manny Machado.
