Fantasy Baseball Daily - May 18, 2014

Sunday is upon us which means we have a multitude of day games being played.  Every team is playing  day game today with the exception being the Tigers and Boston who have the lone night game and play at 8:05 ET.  There are not a ton of great pitching matchups for us to chose from today so we have to make our pick count to make sure we get those four points for the win.  Other than that it’s just another day in daily’s so lets go make a lineup that’s going to make us some more money.

We bring you fantasy daily picks for FanDuel .com and if you haven’t signed up  yet, be sure to follow this link http://eDraft.com/FanDuel/MLB to receive a 100% deposit bonus on your initial deposit. This is an amazing deal that you can’t miss so be sure to check it out and make yourself some extra cash . The cap for FanDuel is $35,000 with only one player at each position like a real MLB lineup (with the exception of outfielders where you can start any three players that are outfield eligible).

The scoring system for FanDuel     is as follows:

Batters: Single = 1pt, Double = 2pts, Triple = 3pts, Homerun = 4pts, RBI = 1pt, Run = 1pt, Walk = 1pt,
Stolen Base = 2pts, Hit By Pitch = 1, Out (calculated as at bats - hits) = -.25pt
Pitchers: Win   = 4pts, Earned Run = -1pt, Strike Out = 1pt, Innings Pitched = 1pt

Pitcher
Ubaldo Jimenez, Orioles, $6,500
: Jimenez has been purely dominant over his last three games pitched.  During that span he has thrown 19.2 innings, giving up only one run with 20 strikeouts.  With a game against the Royals Jimenez should be able to continue his recent run of success.  The Royals are only 25th in runs scored and are 28th in slugging.  Homeruns are generally what plaque Jimenez, and with the overall lack of power on the Royals they don’t present much of a threat.

Catcher
Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Marlins, $2,600
: Despite his struggles at the plate this month Saltalamacchia has been a productive fantasy catcher throughout a majority of the season.  His average is down to .264 because of his recent struggles but Salty did just have a four for five game two nights ago and squares off against Ryan Vogelsong who owns a 4.22 ERA this season.

First Base
James Loney, Rays, $2,500
: Loney is very quietly having a strong campaign for the Rays.  He’s batting .311 with 17 runs scored and 25 RBI and you wouldn’t even know it unless you were a Rays fan.  He has been consistently producing all season long for the Rays and at only $2,500 this is probably the steal of the day.

Second Base
Kolten Wong, Cardinals, $2,700
: Wong has played with a chip on his shoulder since getting called back up from Triple-A.  Wong has two hits in both games since coming back as well as a steal in each game.  His speed has even led to him scoring three runs and as long as remains in the two hole runs scored should not be an issue in the powerful Cardinals lineup.

Third Base
Pablo Sandoval, Giants, $2,500
: Pablo has really been swinging the bat well of late.  He is up to an eight game hitting streak and is really starting to look like Sandoval of old.  It was only a matter of time before the bat started to come around and now that it has, it is time to get the panda into your lineups and ride this hot streak.

Short Stop
Ian Desmond, Nationals, $2,800
: The last week has been a kind one to Desmond.  He has two homeruns in his last five games and has racked up seven RBI during that span.  The Nationals finish up this series against the Mets with Zack Wheeler on the mound who despite his electric pitching arsenal has been awful this year.  Desmond is one of the best hitting shortstops in the game and needs to be used while he s hitting the ball.

Outfield
George Springer, Astros, $2,900
: While the average is not there, as anticipated by extremely high strikeout rate, Springer has been effective at the plate none the less.  He’s recorded at least one RBI in each of his last four games and has homered three times in the last ten days.  Springer’s ability to hit lefties well this year is really going to pay dividends today with the left handed John Danks on the mound for the White Sox.  Danks has an ERA that is nearing 5.0 Springer will likely extend his RBI streak to five games.
