Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez has turned heads again this season as he started the All Star Game for the National League at 36 years of age.
So far this season, the career .285 hitter is staying true to form, hitting .284 with eleven homers and 45 runs batted in. Ramirez continues to defy his age, but when will it catch up to him?
Well, this past month has not been so kind to the veteran slugger. He has homered just twice in the past 30 days, hitting just .262 in that span. Somehow he managed to swipe two bases in that span, but don't expect the bursts of speed to continue.
In the past two weeks, Ramirez has not homered once. Things have gotten even worse in the past week, as he is hitting just .214. Not only has Ramirez shown somewhat of a decline in the past several weeks, his Brewers have as well.
Nobody projected Milwaukee to be a huge player in the playoff race, but they currently sit tied with the St. Louis Cardinals at the top of the National League Central Division. However, things do not look as good considering that the Brewers once held a substantial league in addition to the best record in all of baseball.
Selling Ramirez should be able to net you a big return. As a veteran, his name alone should merit some interest, along with the fact that his numbers at first glance look as good as they always have.
With the Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds breathing right down their necks, expect the Brewers to struggle a little bit after choking up a big lead in the division. Ramirez is a leader and the team still owns one of the strongest lineups in baseball, but the team has to be expected to come back to life.
Third base is a fairly weak fantasy position, so if you can afford to trade Ramirez, you should be able to improve your team.
