The All-Star Game ballots are out, which only means one thing; some guys have it, and some don’t. By now most of you have hopefully come to the realization that a few of your guys are not going to dig themselves out of the metaphorical hole they’ve put themselves in; and yet, you keep one starting them anyway. Hopefully this article will clue you in on a few guys who you should evacuate from your team as soon as it’s humanly possible.
Vance Worley Minnesota Twins SP
It’s no real surprise that Vance Worley has been less than efficient this season for the Minnesota Twins; however, apparently a decent amount of people still haven’t gotten the message. Of the eight starts Worley has made this season, he has earned less than three runs in only two of them. It’s hard to believe that just two seasons ago he went 11-3 with the Philadelphia Phillies. Something is clearly wrong with him and the Twins aren’t doing anyone any favors by continuing to let him get flogged publicly every time he takes to the hill.
Joel Hanrahan Boston Red Sox RP
For some reason 34 percent of all owners still have Joel Hanrahan on their roster. Just to let the rest of you know, Hanrahan was placed on the 60-day DL. Not the 30 or the 15, but the 60-day DL. This pretty much means that there is little-to-no chance of seeing him back until well after the trade deadline, if not the rest of the season. Hanrahan has been less than stellar this season with a record of 0-1 and an ERA of 9.82. As a closer, this is pretty much career-ending. Obviously in the case of Hanrahan it’s not career-ending; however, it should mean the end of his season on your roster.
Tony Watson Pittsburgh Pirates RP
It’s only fitting to follow-up a former Pittsburgh Pirate with a current one. Up until April 30th, Tony Watson was one of the best set-up guys in the league. Lately he’s been a bit of a disaster. In his last five appearances, his ERA has more than doubled to a frightening 5.60, not to mention he’s also been tagged with a loss and thwarted two chances for Jason Grilli to convert a save. Until he can prove himself reliable again, it’s best to pick someone else up who has been cutting the mustard.
Danny Espinosa Washington Nationals 2B/SS
In years passed Danny Espinosa has been a formidable middle infield selection; however, this season he is on the fast track to getting sent down to AAA. He is currently hitting a career-low .189 with three home runs and 12 RBI, but it’s hardly noticeable considering the fact that the Washington Nationals currently have one of the worst team batting averages in all of Major League Baseball (.231). Seriously, drop him now and pick up Marco Scutaro. It’s a win-win!
Josh Hamilton Los Angeles Angels OF
Josh Hamilton is currently batting .203 with four home runs, 11 RBI and is getting paid $25 million this season to do so. Whether you want to dump him or trade him, it’s your option. Just get rid of him. It’s a much easier process for you than it will ever be for the Los Angeles Angels.
