Here are your weekly three waiver wire adds. Don't hesitate to pick them up, get them before your opponents do!
3B Juan Uribe - Los Angeles Dodgers
Sure, Uribe may have been playing baseball before the wheel was invented, but he has proven that he can still play. Uribe has been contributing in pretty much every offensive category this year, hitting .330 with four homers, ten RBI and nine runs scored.
There is also reason to believe that despite his age, Uribe may be able to keep swinging the bat well. 2013 was one of the best seasons in his long career as he hit a solid .278 clip and smacked twelve home runs. He also homered twice and hit a whopping .375 in the postseason for the Dodgers.
Surprisingly, Uribe is owned in only 35% of ESPN leagues.
SP Jason Hammel - Chicago Cubs
Need a starting pitcher? Go with Hammel. Even if he is a Chicago Cub.
Hammel has thrown 27 2/3 innings, has a 3-1 record, 20 strikeouts and a 2.60 ERA. Not bad numbers, eh? I haven't even gotten to the good part.
Hammel's WHIP is a stunning 0.69. That's right. In those 27 2/3 innings, he has only walked five batters and surrendered fourteen hits. All four of his starts were against fairly good offenses as well: the Diamondbacks, Yankees and the Pirates (twice).
Hammel is only owned in 28.7% of ESPN leagues.
OF Dayan Viciedo - Chicago White Sox
Viciedo was a strong hitting prospect that seemed not to pan out as well as hoped for the Chicago White Sox and was eventually relegated to a spot on the bench. This year, however, the season-ending injury to Avisail Garcia has opened the door for Viciedo and he is proving his critics wrong.
His power numbers are not as high as expected, as he only has a single home run thus far, but he has hit safely 26 times in 69 at-bats, leading to a .377 batting average.
Viciedo will continue to get starts on a consistent basis due to the Garcia injury, and he could be a very valuable asset to your team if he continues to produce like this.
Apparently, people in only 17.9% of ESPN leagues are aware of what Viciedo has been doing on the South Side.
