OF A.J. Pollock - Arizona Diamondbacks
Pollock is on an absolute tear lately, hitting .405 in the past two weeks and swiping six bases in that span. Even with the heart of the St. Louis Cardinals pitching rotation facing him this week, it seems likely that he will continue his success.
Tuesday night, St. Louis ace Adam Wainwright takes the hill. While it seems like facing Wainwright is always a tough task, it hasn't been the case for Pollock. He has hit safely all three times he has faced the all-star. Pollock is also perfect against Wednesday night's starter Michael Wacha. Yes, he has faced Wacha just once, but he smacked a three-run homer off of the young Cardinal pitcher.
Pollock is owned in only 16.6% of ESPN fantasy leagues. If you need steals or batting average, do not hesitate to pick him up.
SP/RP Drew Pomeranz - Oakland Athletics
After pitching spectacularly out of the bullpen, Pomeranz was promoted to the rotation. He has started two games thus far, and although he has only thrown five innings in each game, he is yet to surrender a run as a starter.
Pomeranz can get hitters out by way of the K, as he punched out eight batters in his five innings last start against the White Sox. He is finally looking like the pitcher the Colorado Rockies expected him to be when they acquired him from the Cleveland Indians in the Ubaldo Jimenez trade a few years back.
This week, Pomeranz will face the Tampa Bay Rays; a team that has struggled offensively this year.
RP Hector Rondon - Chicago Cubs
Need some saves? Give Rondon a shot. I know the fact that he is a Cub may steer you away, but he is honestly the best option out there right now.
Rondon has picked up four saves this month and has been very consistent other than a miscue against the Cardinals on May 4th.
He has seemingly settled into the closing role on the North Side, and may get a good amount of saves since most of the Cubs' wins are by slim margins. He is only owned in 44.3% of ESPN's fantasy leagues, but pick him up before someone else realizes there is a good closer out there.
