Fantasy baseball players aren't going to be too happy with news that came out of Los Angeles on Thursday. The Dodgers were forced to place ace starter Clayton Kershaw on the 15-day disabled list earlier in the day with back soreness.
Reports later surfaced that the multiple-time CY Young winner suffered a herniated disc in his lower back, setting into motion questions about when he might actually be able to return.
There are now indications that Kershaw, the top fantasy pitcher thus far this season, will be out until after the All-Star Break.
While this is most definitely a major blow for the Dodgers, it also impacts the fantasy baseball world — primarily those in keeper and re-draft leagues.
Kershaw boasts an 11-2 record with a 1.79 ERA and 0.73 WHIP in 16 starts. He's also put up over 16 strikeouts for evrey walk on the year. This has him ahead of the second-best fantasy starter (Max Scherzer) by a grand total of 30 points.
