Veteran outfielder Matt Holliday signed a one-year contract with the New York Yankees on Wednesday. It's just Holliday's second trip to the American League after he played 93 games with the Oakland Athletics back in 2009.
Already with a surplus of outfielders, it remains to be seen how Holliday fits into the equation. Though, he's always played at a high level in the field during his career, a clear indication the Yankees might be looking to move either Jacoby Ellsbury and/or Brett Gardner.
From a fantasy perspective, the 36-year-old Holliday should be able to provide something of substance. He's hit 20-plus homers in each of his past 10 full seasons in the Majors and is coming off a 2015 performance 20-homer performance as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals.
With only three career games at Yankee Stadium, there's really no substance to looking at his split. Though, Holliday going from a pitcher-heavy NL Central to the AL East should help him out from a statistical standpoint.
