Despite striking out 16 battery in his past two starts, young Oakland Athletics starter Jharel Cotton is packing his bags for Triple-A Nashville.
Proving that their ultimate goal is to win this season, the A's surely had a quick hook with Cotton. Sure he has given up five-plus earned runs in three of his seven starts this season. But here's a 25-year-old pitcher that has also struck out nearly a batter per inning in parts of two seasons with the team.
In any event, Oakland figured it made sense for Cotton to work things out in the minors. It remains to be seen who will take his turn in the rotation.
