Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar found himself in some hot water after using a homophobic slur directed at Atlanta Braves pitcher Jason Motte on Wednesday.
It was immediately noted on Thursday that MLB was investigating the ugly situation. Both Pillar and the Jays released a statement on Thursday, apologizing for the incident.
Now, Pillar himself will have to sit for the next two games after the team announced his suspension Thursday afternoon.
While the focus here shouldn't be on the fake baseball world, it does have a direct impact. Pillar is hitting .305 with six homers, 12 RBI and 27 runs scored on the season. He's eligible to return to the lineup on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles.
