The Atlanta Braves officially signed 43-year-old starting pitcher Bartolo Colon to a one-year, $12.5 million contract. Having made his MLB debut in 1997, the former Cy Young winner will be entering his 21st season in the bigs when he takes to the rubber for the Braves in 2017.
This past season saw Colon notch a tremendous 15-8 record with a 3.43 ERA and a solid 1.21 WHIP in 34 starts. Always an innings eater, the veteran also put up 190-plus innings for the fourth consecutive season. Simply amazing given his age.
From a fantasy perspective, Colon finished last season ahead of the likes of Gio Gonzalez, Adam Wainwright and Chris Tillman. He still has something left in that respect as well.
