In a somewhat surprising move, the St. Louis Cardinals announced on Wednesday that Carlos Martinez will get the team's Opening Day start over veteran Adam Wainwright.
Wainwright has started each of the past four Opening Days for St. Louis and was seen as the likely candidate to get the call again this season. That's no longer the case.
Martinez, 25, pitched to a 16-9 record with a 3.04 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 31 starts last season. He also struck out 174 batters in 195.1 innings.
He will get the start against Jon Lester and the defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs. Not necessarily the best of hopes when it comes to the DFS community.
