After making sure not to stretch him out early in the season and letting him get some work down in the minors, the Los Angeles Dodgers have called up 20-year-old pitching phenom Julio Urias to start Thursday against the San Francisco Giants.
Urias had a cup of team with Los Angeles last season, posting a tremendous 3.39 ERA with 84 strikeouts in 81 innings (18 appearances, 15 starts).
He brings with him some of the most electric young stuff of any pitcher in baseball today. We also expect the Dodgers to limite Urias' innings, which means it will be a bit before he becomes an elite-level fantasy option.
In three starts at Triple-A this season, Urias posted a 1.93 ERA with 15 K's in 14 innings.
