In what could ultimately prove to be big fantasy news, the New York Yankees have named youngster Aaron Judge their starting right fielder heading into the regular season.
There was some thought being given to New York demoting Judge to the minors in order to give him more seasoning at a lower level. Manager Joe Girardi through that out the window completely on Thursday. Not only will Judge be a member of the 25-man roster, he'll open up as an every-day player.
Judge, 24, should put up some tremendous power numbers at Yankee Stadium this season. The youngster hit .345 with three homers and six RBI during the spring training. He's coming off a 2016 campaign in the minors that saw him hit 19 homers in just 352 at-bats at Triple-A.
Judge is definitely worthy of a roster spot in deeper leagues heading into the season.
