Things aren't necessarily going according to plan for the San Francisco Giants down the stretch. Currently in a three-way tie for two wild card spots in the NL and five games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West, the team is sweating out the remainder of the regular season.
San Francisco is also hoping that Johnny Cueto's early exit from Tuesday's start against the Dodgers is not a sign of things to come. Cueto left the game in the sixth inning with a groin injury and is set to undergo an MRI on Wednesday.
In his first season with the Giants, the 30-year-old Cueto has pitched to a 17-5 record with a 2.79 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 31 starts. A clear sign that Cueto has been a solid fantasy performer, he's also struck out 187 batters in 212.1 innings.
It remains to be seen if Cueto will be able to make his next scheduled start Sunday against the San Diego Padres. Stay tuned for more updates on our alerts section.
