The 2013 season has been an exciting one thus far. A lot of players have gotten off to a red hot start and have been a joy to watch. Here are the five hottest players in the game right now.
1. Justin Upton, Atlanta Braves
Can you think of a guy who’s hitting the ball better than Justin Upton right now? Yeah, me neither. The Braves outfielder has 11 homeruns and 16 RBI to go along with his .316 batting average. Upton is also leading the Braves with 19 runs. Needless to say, he’s crushing the ball, and helping his team tremendously; which makes him the hottest player in baseball right now.
2. Chris Davis, Baltimore Orioles
Davis, like Upton, has been crushing the ball and his name has been all over ESPN due to his hot start this year. He started the season hitting a homerun in four consecutive games and had 16 RBI within that span. Now, Davis is batting .368 with eight homeruns and 24 RBI, leading the Orioles in all three categories. He also is tied with the AL lead in homeruns.
3. Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals
The young outfielder has had a lot of success in his young career and is off to a great 2013. His numbers so far this season are impressive as the 20-year old is batting .364 with 8 homeruns and 16 RBI, leading the Nationals in all three categories. Harper has already had two multi-homerun games this season. With no signs of a sophomore slump, there’s no doubt Harper has an amazing career ahead of him.
4. Joe Mauer, Minnesota Twins
Mauer has been off to a great start this season as he is batting .351 with two homeruns and 8 RBI for the Twins. The five time all star has had some injury problems the past couple of seasons, but that doesn’t seem to be an issue for him this year.
5. Coco Crisp, Oakland Athletics
The A’s outfielder has proved to be a leader with his great start this season. Crisp has been hovering around .300 so far this year, but is now batting .296 with five homeruns and 11 RBI. He also leads the American League with 20 runs. Crisp is also a leading force in the outfield, as he can cover a lot of ground in center field.
