The Cleveland Indians will be without starting catcher Yan Gomes after he separated his shoulder after an awkward fall during the fifth inning of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Twins.
Cleveland will place Gomes on the 15-day disabled list and likely call up Roberto Perez from Triple-A.
This injury is really only significant from a defensive standpoint, and won't have much impact on the fantasy baseball world.
Gomes, 29, was having the worst season of his career at the time of the injury, hitting .165 with eight homers and 32 RBI. He currently ranks as the 22nd-best fantasy catcher on the season.
More so than anything, Gomes' injury suggests that he might very well miss the remainder of the 2016 season. If so, the contending Indians might be forced to look at the trade market for a veteran replacement between now and the August 1st deadline.
