Out since last week with a calf injury, it's now expected that former AL MVP Josh Donaldson will miss the next two-to-four weeks. This report clarifies the timeframe for the Toronto Blue Jays' top hitter to return to action after dealing with said injury throughout Springs Training and the early part of the regular season.
To say that this is a major blow for a struggling Toronto team would be an understatement. Donaldson started the season off strong, putting up a .310 average with two homers and four RBI in the first nine games. This came after a two-year span to start his Toronto career in which the third baseman compiled a combined .290 average with 78 homers and 222 RBI.
With Donaldson out of action for up to the next month, Darwin Barney and Ryan Goins will platoon at third. Neither are fantasy-relevant options here.
