The Arizona Diamondbacks will be without infielder/outfielder Chris Owings for a substantial amount of time after the veteran was diagnosed with a broken finger on his right hand.
The loss hurts Arizona, especially with fellow infielder Nick Ahmed on the disabled list.
Owings, 25, is hitting at a .269 clip with 12 homers, 51 RBI and 12 stolen bases on the season. While he's primarily played short on the season, Owings has seen substantial action at second base and right field.
His loss could mean that Arizona will look for another middle infielder prior to Monday's non-waiver trade deadline. The Diamondbacks currently find themselves at 60-44 on the season and in position for the top wild card spot in the National League.
For his part, Owings has been among the most-versatile fantasy players in the game. While not necessarily a starter, his .325 BABip against fellow righties has made him an overall solid DFS play.
