New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard was rolling in his team's season opener Monday against the Atlanta Braves. He got through six scoreless innings, striking out seven while yielding five hits and walking zero batters.
Unfortunately for the Mets, Syndergaard had to exit the game with a blister on the top of his middle throwing finger. The good news here is that New York's offense came live to score six runs in the seventh inning. The bad news is that Syndergaard exited the game in a zero-zero tie, meaning he will not receive the win.
Either way, there's little reason to believe the Cy Young candidate will miss a start. The Mets might push his next start a day with an extra off-day in between turns. But Syndergaard appears to be primed for a dominating 2017 campaign after Monday's tremendous outing.
