The New York Mets placed ace starter Noah Syndergaard on the 10-day disabled list Monday after he was diagnosed with a partially torn LAT muscle in his throwing arm.
Syndergaard exited Sunday's 23-5 loss to the Washington Nationals in the second inning after suffering said injury. Initial reports were that he suffered a strained LAT muscle. That is obviously no longer the case.
There is no timetable for the pitcher's return. But it is important to note that fellow starter Steven Matz missed two months back in 2015 with the same injury.
This just adds more issues to a Mets team that's 10-14 on the season and is dealing with injuries up and down the roster. Syndergaard entered the 2017 season as a top Cy Young candidate after posting a 14-9 record with a 2.60 ERA and 1.15 WHIP last season.
