The New York Yankees could potentially be without starting outfielder Brett Gardner for some time. Gardner exited Wednesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays after colliding with Rickie Weeks after attempting to hustle out on a ground ball in the sixth inning. 

Officially, Gardner left the game with a bruised jaw and a bruised neck. Weeks was also forced from the action for Tampa Bay. 

We won't know the official word on Gardner's status for a bit here, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Yankees hold him out of action for a couple days. Then again, the injury itself could be more serious than first imagined. 

Gardner entered Wednesday's action having posted a .267 average with a league leading five stolen bases thus far on the young season.
