There hasn't been many unsuccessful surgeries around the MLB world, but none have been more important (from a fantasy perspective) than the procedure Los Angeles Angles outfielder Mike Trout underwent to repair an injured right thumb on Wednesday.
We're here to relay the news that Trout's injury was successful and he's still on track to be out the next six-to-eight weeks. It's still a horrible situation for Trout, the Angels and fantasy owners the world over.
A two-time former MVP, the 26-year-old Trout was having perhaps the best season of his career prior to the injury. He entered his first career stint on the DL hitting .337 with 16 homers and 36 RBI in 47 games. Trout is also posting an absurd .461 on-base percentage with 32 of his 55 hits being of the extra-base variety.
Good news? Cameron Maybin will get regular action with Trout sidelined. Well, that's good news for the Maybin family, right? The rest of us will be over in the corner crying, no matter what Tom Hanks thinks about that.
