When he went down with an elbow injury back in late July, David Price's injury-plagued season seemed to potentially be over. While that might very well still be the case, Price resumed throwing off the mound on Monday. It's a very good sign in a season that's been full of bad news for Price. Remember, he missed the first two months of the season to injury as well.
In 11 starts this year, Price has posted a 5-3 record with a 3.82 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. He has not performed up to his Tampa Bay Rays level since joining the Red Sox on a big-money free agent contract prior to last season. As to where Price posted a combined 3.18 ERA and 1.14 WHIP six-plus seasons in Tampa, he's recorded a pedestrian 3.95/1.22 split in Boston.
There's no telling one way or another whether Price will be able to return for the Red Sox this season. Even if he doesn, the former Cy Young winner isn't a reliable standard fantasy play and offers very little in the DFS community.
