For the second time in 10 days, the MLB team with the highest payroll has been no-hit. This time it was Chicago Cubs starter Jake Arrieta who did it to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Southern California on Sunday night.
Arrieta, 29, was absolutely dominant throughout the night. In the process of finishing off his first career no-hitter, the veteran struck out 12 while facing the minimum of 27 batters throughout the night.
The game ended with Arrieta getting new Dodger' infielder Chase Utley swinging to cap off a ninth inning that saw the Cubs starter strike out the side. Overall, Arrieta struck out Jimmy Rollins, Andre Ethier, Yasmani Grandal and Joc Pederson multiple times.
By virtue of Arrieta's amazing performance, MLB has seen more no-hitters (six) this season than any other year since 2012. It's the second time the Dodgers have been no-hit in the past 10 days.
