In what has to be considered some shocking news, the Miami Marlins have activated outfielder Giancarlo Stanton from the disabled list. The star outfielder has been out since mid August with a groin strain. At the time of the injury, it was expected that Stanton would miss the remainder of the season. He's now apparently recovered much quicker than anyone anticipated.
Stanton, 26, is hitting .244 with 25 homers and 70 RBI in 103 games this season.
It has been a down season for the former NL MVP candidate, but his presence in the lineup could be huge for the Marlins down the stretch. Miami is currently two games under .500 and five games out of the final wild card spot in the National League.
In terms of what fanasy impact this might have, Stanton has been overvalued a great deal in DFS contests throughout the year. His price has been among the top-10 most-expensive outfielders in baseball on FanDuel contests. Though, he entered Tuesday's action as only the 15th-best fantasy right fielder in the game.
Should Stanton prove to be healthy, and with his prices likely lowered for the remainder of the season, he might very well find himself in position to be a value play in DFS contests.
