The Miami Marlins placed starting shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria on the 10-day disabled list Sunday with an oblique strain and re-called top prospect J.T. Riddle from Triple-A to take his place on the 25-man Major League roster.
There's not a whole lot to look at here from a fantasy perspective. Hechavarria has been a weak-hitting shortstop throughout his career, posting a .254 average and .291 OBP in parts of five seasons before this year.
Riddle will now likely share shortstop duties with another weak-hitting infielder in Miguel Rojas.
If there's any fantasy upside here, it's from Riddle, who posted a .276 average with four homers and 53 RBI in between Double-A and Triple-A last season. Even then, that's a tremendous stretch.
