Once September rolls around the MLB rosters are expanded and farm system players are called up. This is an exciting time for triple-a players as some of them will be joining contending clubs while other players will finally get their chance to play in the bigs. Below is a list of players who will be getting the call up.
George Springer, Outfielder, Houston Astros
Obviously this guy will not be involved in any late season surge as he is playing for the Astros but he will indeed get to play at the big league level. He is six foot three and weighs in at 200 pounds, needless to say this guy has power. He is somewhat like a Dan Uggla due to the fact that he can hit the long ball but also strikes out a lot. He will slowly become more disciplined but look for him to have a few k’s to his name come October. In 23 games for Oklahoma City, Springer batted .315 while hitting three home runs and driving in 14 men. He also walks a decent amount too as he issued 31 passes.
Billy Hamilton, Outfielder, Cincinnati Reds
The speedster that is Billy Hamilton is likely to also get the call up as the Reds will want some speed come the postseason. At 23 years old he has stolen 69 bases in 109 games. This guy has wheels and is not afraid to run on anyone. At 22 he set a record for stolen bases as he swiped 155 bases in 132 games. INSANE. He is also a great fielder as you can imagine with all the speed. His batting average was .261 which is not horrible but he is going to need to improve his bat to make a real difference. Keep an eye on this kid.
Yordano Ventura, Pitcher, Kansas City Royals
The Royals have been playing average this season and are basically out of the playoff race. Ventura could join the club and get some experience in the bigs as soon as the call ups are made. He has a great fastball which was reported at hitting 102 miles per hour. He can maintain his pitch speed as well so his endurance is not a factor.
Kevin Gausman, Pitcher, Baltimore Orioles
Kinda cheating here with this one as Gausman has already made an appearance at the big league level. Either way, he is not there now but should most likely get the call as well. He has a decent fastball with a good changeup. He rarely walks batters but sometimes gets in trouble because he lives the ball in the zone too much. It will be interesting to see how his career pans out. You are looking at either feast of fathom here.
