With Lucas Duda still sidelined to injury, the New York Mets made a minor move on Saturday to fill that somewhat big hole at first base.
The team acquired former Major League first baseman James Loney from the San Diego Padres.
Loney, 32, was playing at Triple-A at the time of the trade, accumulating a .342 average with two homers and 18 RBI.
He was last seen in the Majors with the Tampa Bay Rays last season. The veteran posted a .280 average with four homers and 32 RBI. His best season came with Tampa back in 2013 when he tallied 13 homers and 75 RBI while hitting at a solid .299 clip.
Until Duda returns from injury, it would seem that Loney is going to be the Mets' every-day first baseman. Though, due to his lack of power and the fact that he's yet to take a swing in the Majors this season, it seems highly unlikely that Loney will be relevant from a fantasy perspective, even in DFS contests.
