The New York Mets have played ace starter Matt Harvey on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder discomfort. Anything in the shoulder could be seriously problematic, but it doesn't seem that this is going to be a long-term issue for Harvey.
The 27-year-old starter has struggled a great deal thus far this season. He leads the Majors in losses (10) while boasting a 4.86 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP. Harvey's last start came on Monday when he yielded five earned and 11 hits in just 3.2 innings against the Miami Marlins.
With Harvey on the DL, it's highly likely that Logan Verrett will take his spot in the rotation for at least the next two weeks. Verrett has posted a 3-5 record with a 4.01 ERA in 23 appearances (five starts) this season.
Expect Harvey to return shortly after the upcoming All-Star Break.
