While the New York Mets may have fallen short in the World Series, just getting there was more than enough to earn Terry Collins a contract extension. Just days after the Mets were eliminated in Game 5 of the World Series, New York reached a two-year extension with their manager.
Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News was first to report the story. Ackert added that the deal is expected to be announced in a press conference on Wednesday.
Collins has served as the Mets' manager for five seasons, often staying through rumors and calls for his firing in the four years prior as the result of 77, 74 (twice) and 79-win seasons. But with a stout rotation and improved lineup, the Mets were the surprise team of 2015 and made it all the way to the World Series. Collins has a 394-416 record as the Mets' manager.
Now with Hollins under contract for the next two seasons, the front office can turn their focus towards improving a lineup that was inconsistent during the playoffs and a bullpen that was torn apart by the Royals' bats.
