The New York Mets pitching issues could have just recently taken another bad turn. Second-year starting pitcher and the team's most consistent performer thus far this season, Noah Syndergaard, left his start Friday night in the fifth inning with arm fatigue.
It's not yet known if the youngster will miss any time, and the Mets made sure to note that the injury is NOT shoulder related. Remember, the team announced that Matt Harvey would miss the remainder of the season with a condition called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome on Friday. Losing Syndergaard for an extended period of time would hurt the team's playoff hopes.
This comes a littler over a week after the Mets announced Syndergaard had been pitching through bone spurs earlier in the season.
With Logan Verrett slated to replace Harvey in the rotation, the Mets' depth has already taken a hit. Should Syndergaard miss any time, that'd be magnified even further.
The 23-year-old All-Star has posted a 9-3 record with a 2.41 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP in 16 starts this season. He's also striking out nearly a batter per inning thus far on the year.
