New York Mets ace Noah Syndergaard will avoid a trip to the disabled list and should make his next start after the All-Star break. The All-Star exited Friday's game against the Washington Nationals with what was reported to be arm fatigue. The exit came abruptly in the fifth inning, causing concern that the youngster mighth have suffered a serious injury in the process.
Mets manager Terry Collins indicated on Saturday that Syndergaard will not undergo an MRI and will make the team's trip to California immediately following the upcoming All-Star Game.
Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard has not had an MRI and is not expected to, according to manager Terry Collins.
This is good news for a Mets team that's going to be without Matt Harvey for the remainder of the season.
Syndergaard has seen his struggles recently, posting a 4-2 record with a 3.64 ERA in his past seven starts. Those aren't bad numbers at all, but compared to the 5-1 record and 1.84 ERA he tallied in his first nine starts, it's readily apparent that the 23-year-old can use some rest.
The All-Star has posted a 9-3 record with a 2.41 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP in 16 starts this season.
This bit of good news also means that the Mets won't have to draw any further into their depth with Logan Verrett replacing Harvey in the rotation.
