Already potentially without opening day starter Chris Tillman for the start of the regular season, the Baltimore Orioles have shut down All-Star closer Zach Britton with what could be an oblique injury.
Britton's absense from an upcoming intrasquad game shouldn't be overly alarming. Though, injuries to the oblique have been known to shut players down for several weeks. It's not yet known what Britton is suffering through, but the Orioles are smart to play it safe heading into spring training.
Britton, 29, posted an absurd 0.54 ERA with an equally astonishing 0.84 WHIP en route to saving 47 games and finishing in the top five of the AL Cy Young voting.
