In a minor trade during the lead up to the start of the MLB regular season, the Chicago White Sox have traded outfielder Peter Bourjos to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for cash considerations.
Bourjos, 29, played last season for the Philadelphia Phillies before being acquired by Chicago. The veteran posted a .251 average to go with five homers, 23 RBI, seven triples and 40 runs scored for Philly last season.
From a micro perspective, there's really nothing fantasy relevant here. Bourjos has never been a tremendous performer at the plate, failing to post more than 12 homers or an average of .272-plus during his lengthy career in the Majors.
Though, he will be the Rays' primary backup at all three outfield positions. This could potentially cut into the tame their regular see, especially with the veteran being a plus-level defender.
