Reaction to MVP Award Announcement

It’s all over, the 2013 Major League Baseball season has officially come to an end. The World Series champion has been decided. The Cy Young has been picked; all that it comes down to now is the MVP. The Most Valuable Player in each league was decided last night and it is safe to say that the voters got it right.

For one we got Miguel Cabrera who is all but deserving of this award. Sure he didn’t hit 53 home runs like Chris Davis but he did have the second most home runs in the league. If you are an ignorant baseball fan and you think that Davis should be the MVP than you my friend are highly mistaken. Cabrera had the second most RBIs in all of baseball at 137, one behind Davis. He also had the best batting average in baseball at a mark of .348. His OBP, slugging percentage and OPS was the highest in all of baseball as well. Finally he had the third most walks in the American League with 90.

He is by far the most valuable player in the American League, if not the entire league. Cabrera has the best bat in the entire league over the past three years now. If you do not think that he should be the MVP of the AL than you are very ignorant.

The National League was a bit closer as far as “skill” was concerned. There was a lot of big names that could have won the award. Paul Goldschmidt and Yadier Molina. I personally thought that Molina was going to win the award but the voters proved me otherwise. Andrew McCutchen is the 2013 MVP of the National League. He is all but deserving of this award. He had the fourth most walks in the NL, the sixth most stolen bases in the NL, along with the seventh best batting average.

He took a historic baseball city; in years of shambles and made them a playoff contending team. Unfortunately they fell short of the ultimate goal which is the World Series but it is safe to say that without “The Cutch” the Pirates would not be anywhere near a playoff spot. He is one of the most athletic, along with being one of the most humble men in the sport.

Major League Baseball got it right this year as far as the MVP is concerned. They could not have picked two men more deserving of the award.
