As the Cleveland Indians headed into spring training, the front office recognized a need to upgrade at third base. Entering the week, Giovanny Urshela was the projected starter. Now Cleveland has made a change, signing free agent Juan Uribe to upgrade at the hot corner.
The 36-year-old Uribe hit 14 home runs last season in 360 at bats and had a respectable .320 on-base percentage. He was looking for a starting opportunity this offseason and he found it in Cleveland, where he will be joining a lineup that has some great talent in Jason Kipnis, Michael Brantley, Francisco Lindor and Yan Gones.
While Uribe not may not be on a serious playoff contender in 2016, he has found a palce to get consistent at bats. Uribe is a fringe fantasy consideration in 2016, making for a bench bat rather than a fantasy starter, no matter how deep the league is.
