Yahoo Sports MLB insider Jeff Passan reported on Monday that there is serious concern within the Cleveland Indians organization that outfielder Michael Brantley could miss significant time following his latest setback to a shoulder injury he suffered in May.
Brantley, 29, originally had shoulder surgery back in November and missed the first three weeks of the 2016 regular season. After putting up just a .231 average with zero homers and 7 RBI in 11 games, Brantley was again shelved with discomfort in the same shoulder. He's been out since May 10.
Though, it must be noted that Indians president Chris Antonetti noted earlier this week that there's nothing new to reprot on Brantley's situation. He remains sidelined. This came after the veteran outfielder suffered a setback during soft-throwing sessions earlier in June.
With Brantley sidelined for the majority of the season, Cleveland has been using Rajai Davis and Jose Ramirez in a platoon situation out in left field.
Davis is hitting .261 with six homers, 24 RBI and 13 steals on the season. The right hander remains a solid DFS play against lefties, as he's boasts a .341 BAbip against those pitching from that side of the mound.
