The Seattle Mariners organizational revamping is now complete. After hiring former Los Angeles Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto as the team's general manager on Sept. 28, DiPoto has brought over friend Scott Servais as the club's new manager.
Servais served as assistant general manager and ran the player development program while working under Dipoto in Los Angeles. This will be Servais first time being a manager, a risky move for a franchise that is looking to turn around a very talented team that went 76-86 last season.
We have seen a recent trend of teams like the Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals hiring the likes of Mike Matheny and Brad Ausmus.
The Seattle Times reported Tim Bogar, who has been an interim manager for the Texas Rangers during the 2014 season after Ron Washington stepped down. He also has managed across the minor leagues after his playing career. Last season he worked in the Angels' front office, so there is a clear connection to Dipoto and Servais.
