Should the LA Dodgers Seriously Consider Trading Matt Kemp?

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been involved in a lot of trade talks. The reality of it all is that they have yet to actually make a real move. For awhile we thought that maybe, just maybe Giancarlo Stanton was on his way but that proved to be false. The new rumor that is swirling around the internet is that superstar Matt Kemp could be traded. We have already seen two superstars switch teams with the Prince Fielder and Ian Kinsler trade and more could come.

The Dodgers have a plentiful amount of outfielders with Carl Crawford, Andre Ethier and Yasiel Puig. It might sound crazy but the Dodgers could afford to trade Kemp and still remaining a playoff contending team. Think about it for a minute. Kemp has proven over the past two years that he can not stay healthy but at the same time he is good when he plays. The Dodgers are going to have to continue paying him unless they can trade him.

If they traded him they would definitely be getting something good back in return. Possibly a starting pitcher, bullpen pitcher or even a backup outfielder. Kemp was asked about this whole situation and said that he doesn’t want to be traded but understands why it could happen.

The Texas Rangers have expressed interest in trading for Kemp but after they shook up the baseball world earlier this week things might be a bit different on their front. Another team that has shown interest in Kemp is the Seattle Mariners although we have no information on what players would be moving on the Mariner front.

The one plausible reason for Kemp staying is that he is younger than two of the other three outfielders in LA. Crawford is 32 and also had some injury struggles of his own over the past years; while Ethier is 31 and also had to deal with some injuries as well. The likelihood of seeing an outfielder traded in LA soon is very unlikely as management is just waiting to see who is healthy.
