“I have tried to handle the entire situation with; honor, integrity, with class, with dignity, with professionalism because that’s who I am and that’s how I have always lived my life.” These are the words spoken from Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun after he was found “innocent” of substance abuse at the beginning of 2012. Turns out he failed to do any of these things, as he blatantly lied to Major League Baseball about his use of performance enhancing substances.
Sit down for a minute and watch his entire press conference. With the knowledge of what we know now, the statements he made are laughable and it is crazy how intently he tried to hide the truth. He also stated that he “would bet my life that this substance has never entered my body at any point.” Good thing he isn’t a betting man huh? The whole video is ridiculous, just listening to all the lies he has stated.
Furthermore, the truth has finally been revealed and Braun will be serving a 65 game suspension. With that being said Braun clearly cut a deal with Major League Baseball. All of the numbers stated that players such as Braun would be serving 100 game suspensions. The reasoning why Braun will not be is still not 100 percent clear but if you are a Brewers fan you should be very thankful that it will only be through this season. Let’s be honest here, the Brewers are arguably the second worst team in the National League and this season has been a failure since day one.
This is the first domino to fall of what looks like about 18 more names. The next ball will be dropped on Alex Rodriguez who has not played a single Major League game this year. For now we wait and see if other names like Jhonny Peralta and Everth Cabrera are next to fall. Today is a good and bad day for baseball as the cheater got caught and the truth indeed prevailed. The only negative is that baseball is not 100 percent clean and may never be clean ever again due to guys like Braun who think they are above the game.
