It's possible that San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum may have pitched his last game with the team. The struggling starter underwent hip surgery on Thursday and is out for the remainder of the season.
Lincecum, 31, had been dealing with the injury for the duration of the season. It's not yet known what his recovery timetable is, but this isn't a good sign for a veteran that is set to hit the open market this winter.
A two-time Cy Young winner, Lincecum represented one of the earliest signs of a Giants team that was prepared to turn the corner and become a World Series contender late last decade.
The former 10th-round pick accumulated a 49-22 record with a 2.83 ERA with over 10 strikeouts per nine innings and a WHIP of under 1.20 in 99 starts from 2008-2010. Since then, Lincecum has struggled big time. Despite the team winning two World Series titles since 2012, the starter has boasts a 39-42 record with an ERA of over 4.50 since the start of the 2012 campaign.
