Starting Pitching is the second deepest position behind outfield, and like the outfields, it also has some top-tier talent to go along with that depth. Guys like David Price, Johnny Cueto, Jordan Zimmermann and Zack Greinkecan make all the difference on a team.
If you are a team that is close to winning and has the finances to sign one of these guys to a monster contract they should do so in order to increase their chances at a championship.
Besides the top tier guys that are free agents you have a ton of players that could be a number two or number three starting pitcher on a team. Guys like a Wei-Yin Chen, Lackey or Latos aren’t going to demand the astronomical contracts as some of these other pitchers but they are more than capable of helping a team reach the promised land. There is plenty of postseason experience among these guys and you have three pitchers coming from the World series Champion Royals.
A ton of money is going to be dropped on this position this winter, and based off this list of names it is generally going to be money well spent.
