The free agent situation at third base is a fairly sad one, both in terms of talent and quantity of players available. Any team looking to improve at third base is in a tough spot as the 36 year old Juan Uribe played the second most games with 119 games which was only two behind Freese. Offensive production was weak from all of these free agents and none of them are exactly known for their swift fielding abilities. Sadly Uribe tied with Freese in homeruns last year with just 14, so teams won’t even necessarily be getting a power bat off the bench if they sign one of these players. All free agent options at third base are best suited for a bench or platoon role, and even then total production is going to be very limited.
