The Toronto Blue Jays have made yet another move to bolster their roster for the stretch run, acquiring Cliff Pennington from the Arizona Diamondbacks for a prospect.
Pennington, 31, is a slick fielding middle infielder that has not provided a lot of punch at the plate since coming over from the Oakland Athletics prior to the start of the 2013 season. He's hitting just .237 with one homer, 10 RBI's and three stolen bases in 135 at-bats this season.
Pennington will act as the primary backup to Troy Tulowitzki at shortstop. He'll also be a solid defensive replacement at both second and third.
The veteran will become a free agent following the 2015 season.
