Just 24 hours the team lost its top hitter, the Toronto Blue Jays placed one of the key figures in their rotation on the disabled list Sunday, Aaron Sanchez, who started on Friday and struggled against the Baltimore Orioles, landed on the 10-day DL with a blister on his right middle finger.
In Friday's start, Sanchez allowed five runs over 5 1/3 innings pitched. He reported the issue to the team, a blister he previously had issues with in his last spring training start, and the team opted to play it safe with him and keep him out of action for the next week and a half.
While there's no update on when Sanchez will return, he's expected to visit a hand specialist early next week to get a better idea about the severity of the blister and when he can start throwing again.
In two starts this season, the young right-handed pitcher allowed six runs, four walks and three home runs over 12 1/3 innings pitched. Toronto hasn't made a decision yet on who will take Sanchez's spot in the rotation, we'll provide an update on that when the information becomes available.
