Yoenis Cespedes is the Difference Maker in New York

Since being acquired from the Detroit Tigers on July 31st, New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes has posted a .312 batting average with six himers and 18 RBI's in just 21 games. During that very same span, the soon-to-be free agent has tallied a ridiculous .923 OPS.

It's not a coincidence that the Mets are 15-6 while averaging 6.3 runs per game with Cespedes in the lineup. With David Wright now back in the fold, New York boasts a middle of the lineup punch that seemed to be a fantasy just a few short weeks ago.

Now at 68-56 on the season, the Mets find themselves 5.5 games ahead of the Washington Nationals in the NL East. The team has scored more than 10 runs three times in its past four outings after accomplishing that feat just three times since May 17th. And with one of the best pitching staffs in baseball, the Mets have a real chance to do some damage should they earn a playoff spot.

It appears that Cespedes will be one of the primary reasons for this. Should he continue to put up elite numbers from the plate, the Mets will be a scary opponent for any team in the NL come October.

From a fantasy perspective, the veteran outfielder remains one of the best DFS plays until proven otherwise. Including the end of his stint in Detroit, Cespedes has put up a .325 average with 10 homers and 25 RBI's over the past month.
